CRYOTHERAPY

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) entails using a cryotherapy chamber that reaches ultra-low temperatures ranging from -200° to -300° degrees Fahrenheit.  The patient stands in this chamber for 2 to 3 minutes as part of the treatment.

Whole body cryotherapy has been used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis in Japan since the 1970s and is now being used in Western countries to help alleviate muscle soreness and back pain.

In addition to pain relief, this procedure is often used for

skin care,

mood improvement,

increased energy levels,

and weight loss.

It feels cold right away but the time should pass pretty quickly. You will get the shivers but you aren’t going to feel like you are frozen. The treatment doesn’t penetrate the skin so organs stay safe. If you need to, you can get out at any time.

Benefits include relief for muscle, joint, and back pain, weight loss, and younger looking skin. If you have ever iced an injury then you will understand how cryotherapy works for muscle pain. The reason cryotherapy works for weight loss is that the cold temperatures will force your body to work harder so you burn more calories in order to stay warm. It also boosts your metabolism so you are still burning more calories after your session. It helps with skin because the decrease in temperature helps decrease inflammation. However, it's not a long-term solution for better skin. It can also temporarily boost your energy and mood levels and some studies are looking into whether or not it can help treat mental illness. The theory behind this is that it releases endorphins and gets blood flowing through the body, which can be helpful if you are experiencing depression or anxiety.

FAQs

Can Chiropractic Care Help me?

Chiropractic care specializes in musculoskeletal conditions such as neck and back pain.  The best way to tell if chiropractic care can help you is to schedule an appointment with our chiropractic physician.  He will perform a thorough physical exam involving range of motion, orthopedic and neurological test.  Once a diagnosis has been established, he'll tell you if you would benefit from chiropractic care or another of our treatment options.

Is Chiropractic Care Safe?

Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours

Does My Insurance Cover the Treatment?
